About the Role

Children's Theatre of Charlotte
Teaching Artists are contacted and interviewed on an as-needed basis. We discourage you to apply if you are seeking a regular full-time or part-time position.

WHAT YOU’LL DO...

Deliver quality theatre education that meets or exceeds expectations established by our Education Team.
Create and implement a course of study to meet student's needs and abilities determined by curriculum standards provided by our Education Team. May need to provide weekly/regular lesson plans for review.
Communicate regularly with parents and staff, striving to maintain program quality.
Attend mandatory meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
PROGRAMS THAT WE OFFER...

Summer Camp (10 weeks/June-Aug) – Week-long, process-based classes for ages 3 through Grade 12. Younger students explore scripts adapted from children’s books. Older students explore full scripts of plays and musicals, with some skills-based training for teens.
School of Theatre Training (20 weeks/Sept-March) – Weekly, skills-based theatre classes for Grades 3-12, includes acting and musical theatre focuses.
Creative Drama (10 weeks/Sept-Dec & Jan-March) – Weekly classes with games, crafts, music, and story dramatization for ages 2-10.
Long- and Short-Term Residencies (throughout the year) – Arts-related classes with our community partners including area schools and ASC Culture Blocks. Ages and duration of programs may vary.
Mini-Camps (throughout the year) – Full-day experiences with drama, games, art and music activities during holiday breaks and Charlotte-Mecklenburg School teacher workdays for Grades K-5.
