Our MISSION

We are a nonprofit collective of Charlotte-area artists and arts leaders dedicated to connecting all factions of the arts including dance, theatre, museums, music, visual art, comedy and venue management in a united effort to reflect the greater community in the work produced both on and off the stage. We serve as stewards of accountability, driven by the experiences and needs of this community and of the artists in our community.

We are a catalyst for change within arts organizations to create long-lasting and actionable policies, providing resources and a network to help leaders build equitable, just, inclusive practices for their organization.

Our ViSION

Black, Indigenous and POC voices have long been “othered” and marginalized, tokenized or ignored.

We believe arts organizations and arts supporters are responsible for the amplification of these voices and other voices across gender, race, sexual orientation and ability that largely have been refused a seat at the table.

The Collective was built to encourage a richer, more representative arts landscape that grants long-overdue access and equity to all.

Bringing the community together

Over the past year, we've hosted virtual events to allow artists and those who work in and around the arts to voice their experiences as a person of color in the industry, to learn how to be a better ally or accomplice, and to create a safe space where we can grow and learn together.

Join us as we continue these conversations and the work that needs to be done in our community.

Diversity On & Off Stage was founded by a collective of Charlotte-area arts organizations, artists and arts employees.
